Nashville-based, GRAMMY Award-Nominated singer/songwriter Ruby Amanfu has released the captivating new video for her latest single, and exquisite rendition of Brandi Carlile's"Shadow On The Wall," today on KCRW's Music Blog. The striking video stars a hauntingly beautiful Amanfu, and was directed by The Pierces' Catherine Pierce.
"Shadow On The Wall," produced by Patrick Carney of The Black Keys, is now at AAA Radio and is off of Ruby Amanfu's forthcoming album, Standing Still, which is set for release August 28th via Thirty Tigers/Rival & Co Records. Starting on August 20th, you will be able to stream Standing Still in its entirety via NPR's First Listen. The intimate new album was produced by legendary music man Mark Howard (Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Emmylou Harris) and Austin Scaggs.
Ruby Amanfu has also announced select live performances - including a very special album release show in her adopted hometown of Nashville on August 29th at The High Watt, and a festival performance at this year's Oaktopia 2015.
Ruby Amanfu has racked up quite an impressive and extensive resume as a collaborator, musician, and songwriter. She has recorded, collaborated, and performed with artists as diverse as Kelly Clarkson, Jason Isbell, Norah Jones, Brittany Howard, Ben Folds, Hozier, Joy Williams, Jakob Dylan, Buddy Miller, Butch Walker, Alison Mosshart, Ann Wilson, Patti LaBelle, and Wanda Jackson. Amanfu was half of the duo Sam & Ruby, whose 2009 release, The Here And The Now, was named Associated Press' Album of the Year, and is considered a landmark in Nashville's thriving pop scene. In 2011, she was hand-picked by Jack White to be his singing partner on his first solo album, Blunderbuss. Their duet, "Love Interruption," became White's first hit as a solo artist and the pair performed the song at the 2013 GRAMMY Awards.
